What to watch on a rainy weeknight? Love music, dancing and a fun (if slightly irreverent) storyline? Try The Blues Brothers! Be entertained as Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi drive their beat-up, old cop car around late ’70’s/early ’80’s Chicago in search of charity money for their local Catholic school. The deadpan humor, the awesome suits, hats, and sunglasses, and the cooler than cool dance moves will hold a room full of the most skeptical viewers glued to the flatscreen.
And if all that isn’t enough, the music alone is worth the 133 minute run-time. With on-screen cameos and performances from the likes of JAMES BROWN, CAB CALLOWAY, RAY CHARLES and ARETHA FRANKLIN, you really can’t go wrong.
The Blues Brothers as a band aren’t bad either – love the “Rawhide” cover! Be aware of some language content – if you aren’t used to the R-rated vocab – but otherwise, great fun and entertainment for movie and music fans alike! Oh, one more thing for ELVIS fans – there is a great use of “Jailhouse Rock” in the film as well : )
