Grieving the Loss of a Dear Friend – A Poem by Linda (Peaches) Tavani

When a dear close friend of mine suddenly passed away,
I saw rare hues from heaven beaming in the sky that day.

From that moment forward I dedicated those deep rose tones of fuchsia to my friend,
remembering my friendship with her, from the beginning to the end.

In those special moments as I gaze at the lovely sunbeams streaming,
the peace of God comes over me and that’s why I believe it’s true.

I believe at that very moment, my sweet friend
is smiling with the Lord and thinking of me too…

Being ignorant of Emmett’s experience, I was horrified by the story. It overfilled my senses with the global collective of the beyond-painful memories of the historical records of oppression and abuses perpetrated by humans. It easily could have pushed me into a ‘useless emotional state,’ yet I was surprisingly and thankfully impressed by the film’s excellence as an art form.
